Mississippi Home Again was a grass roots
organization formed by Tammy Agard and Annie Card that aided Mississippi
Gulf Coast residents with limited financial resources to resettle
in their homes after Katrina. Helping boost independence and dignity,
Mississippi Home Again assisted individuals and families by replacing
their most fundamental, and often most costly, household essentials
destroyed in the hurricane: typically hot water heaters, stoves,
refrigerators and beds. In just two years, Mississippi Home Again
provided over $2 million in appliances and furniture to returning
Gulf Coast residents.
Hope
Has A Face Foundation purchased a “Rolling Tool Chest”
for Mississippi Home Again containing everything, from drills to
nail guns and safety glasses to saw horses, necessary to tackle
a wide variety of recovery projects. Equipped with such a trailer,
the Americorps helped hundreds of residents fulfill their hopes
of getting back in their houses.
